Kikumaru

The first thing that stands out in a spoonful of rich matcha anmitsu is the bittersweet flavour of the matcha ice cream. Smooth agar jelly is topped with smooth red bean paste, gyūhi, mandarin orange and cherry, with kuromitsu syrup to add as you like. Visitors have also praised the jelly’s slippery texture and the soft sweetness of the bean paste. Matcha takes centre stage, while the fruit and gyūhi bring contrasting flavours to enjoy along the way.

For a more elaborate presentation, try the “The Rose of Versailles” anmitsu, crowned with apple poached in red wine and arranged like a rose. One diner described enjoying it with a wafer shell, red bean paste and ice cream. Its distinctive presentation offers a different choice from the classic anmitsu.

The menu extends beyond sweets, with dishes such as chirashi sushi with conger eel, downtown-style hayashi rice and a Japanese-style hamburger steak set. One lunch diner reported that their meal came with coffee and a mini soft-serve anmitsu, making this an option when you’re in the mood for dessert after lunch.
